Happy Friday!!

Yey it is sort of the weekend - well nearly - well OK for a bum like me it is kind of always the weekend.............

Sorry I haven't blogged this week - thought I would give you guys a break from my drivvle!
But now I am back. xx
Thankyou all for your kind comments on my crafty stuff, much appreciated

So not really sure what I am doing this weekend. Probably crafting.
I am considering doing a big 2 day event in a couple of weeks - and to be honest if I decide to go for it I am going to have to live and breathe making cards until then ............ which could be nice - or could be a chore. Will have a bash tonight and see how many I can achieve and sketch out some ideas etc and will have to make a decision early next week.

I also am taking part in a circle journal - a book that is handmade and posted around a group of 5 people and you each decorate a page in the books to the theme given. So at the end each person gets their book back and have it completed with a page done by all the other members.
Now sounds good yes? OK posting day is monday for the first round and have i started mine - have I bugger.

So your task for today dear bloggers is to give me some help!
My theme -chosen in a random moment - is advice.

So I have to do a double page layout on this theme - which I am now not sure about!

SO do I take it seriously and ask you what is the best advice you have ever been given? Or have given?
Or do I do a piss take stance on it and ask you for VIZ / Neil style advice?

Think will probably go poignant serious on one page and VIZ style on the other?

SO Bloggers please give me ADVICE!!!!
Have a great weekend all and I may check back in and update over the weekend ..........
Love Bex

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

-Rudyard Kipling (the man's a great poet, plus he does make exceedingly good cakes).

Advice?? My first piece of advice is to NEVER ask Neil or James Casey for advice.

2) Never try setting your farts on fire when you have a hairy arse.
3) Dont piss into the wind.
4) Girls. Always, always, double check, when you have been to the loo, that your dress is not tucked into your knickers. It's not a good look and we only laugh out of sympathy.
5) If you think you get away with it, lie.
6) If you want to shoplift, wrap a magnet around the bar code to disarm it. OR. Go shopligting in charity shops. They rarely prosecute.
7) If you want to make your date think you are a sensitive sole and cry watching a girlie film, wear tight underwear and cross your legs, catching your knackers between your thighs. That will bring tears to your eyes.

So will plucking your pubes but i guess that's a bit more difficult to acheive without her seeing you.

8) Never stand behind a cow and shoot peas at its udders.
9)Men. Do not rub deep-heat on an aching part of your body and then go for a piss -without washing your hands first. (This will work, however, for tip no 7)

Finally. Never visit Bex' blog and write stupidness when the wife is asking you to do things and you, completely by mistake, tell her to go fuck herself, i'm busy. D'oh.

Hi Bex,

I cheated a bit; went to a wisdom website, ha ha! But, I only copied those bits of wisdom that were actually given to me....

** Make no little plans: make big plans, aim high, that is what makes life worth living

* Without music, life is a journey through a desert.

**When the door to an opportunity closes, open a window.

** Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

** No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.

* There are two things to aim at in life: first to get what you want; and after that, to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind achieve the second

* Win without boasting. Lose without excuse.

* Wisdom is the reward you get for a lifetime of listening when you would rather have talked

**This too, shall pass....

**When faced with a problem, and there seems to be no solution, sleep on it; it will be easier in the morning.

**There is no black or white, only shades of Gray!

Hope this helps you out.....I actually like the wit and comedy of Del's advice....that would make a fabulous addtion to the book, a sort of "comedic relief"

take care, and have a great weekend...i'm going for a girls night tonight, BIG GIRLS, that is...my husband can handle my little girls.....YIPPEE!

Love the Kipling one, great advice there. The only thing that springs to mind right now is from my Dad, whenever I went out as a teenager before I'd leave the house he'd say...
"If you can't be good be careful!"

Ha ha Bex.
You are too cute!
Asking the BLOGGER Bunch for advice.
Nice...
:)
Talk about a set up!!
hee hee.
But along Delbut's train of thought, my first thought was NEVER ask for advice on Blogger!
As for serious advice...see Kahil Gibran...or ...

Max Ehrmann

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Yeah it's an oldie...but goodie.

Take care Bex!

ah but you DID say humorous...I went for serious.
silly sue.
ok I found a few:

"My experience has taught me that a man who has no vices has damned few virtues."
-Abe Lincoln

All by Charlie Chaplin:

"To truly laugh, you must be able to take your pain and play with it!"

"Failure is unimportant. It takes courage to make a fool of yourself."

"A day without laughter is a day wasted."

"It seems our laws are always telling us what not to do- are always keeping us from enjoying ourselves. Human beings are made just as much for having fun as goose- stepping and sweating in factories."

(dunno what goose-stepping is!)

Erma Bombeck:

"Never go to a doctor who's office plants have died."

"It goes without saying that you should never have any more children than you have car windows."

"Never lend your car to anyone to whom you have given birth."

"I haven't trusted polls since I read that 62% of women had affairs during their lunch hour. I've never met a woman in my life who would give up lunch for sex."

Steven Wright:
"You can't have everything. Where would you put it?"

"It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others."

Not really advice, but I like this Oscar Wilde quote:
"Men always want to be a woman's first love. Women like to be a man's last romance."

I can find more if you want...

Read your plea for help and thought "Is she mad? asking this on her blog?" Then realised that of course you're mad. I suppose one piece of advice would be think twice before asking for words of advice on a blog.

But my fave is the one that's already here - the Desiderata. It's also quite long so spreading it over 2 pages would be easy and you wouldn't have to think of two different things to do....

Thanks all - this is FANTASTIC!!!

I have decided that I am going to do the left page with proper advice - I pretty much have these in the bag as can hear my Mum over my shoulder with all her sayings - scary stuff ......... although i do try to live by them.
I have though had a manic idea to try to co-ordinate the sensible with the silly.
So the right hand page will be totally silly conflicting advice ........

So please do keep any more coming!

And Kathy - thanks for popping by.
Not quite sure who you are - cos if you are calling me mad you must have the wrong Bex. I am TOTALLY sane ........ Hope you find the mad Bex that you are seeking xxx (Mind you is weird cos I do know a Kathy and she has same avatar pic as you - odd eh?)

Love Bex

Aw Bex - that's sweet about your mom - I hear my mom's voice all the time!!
It's a good thing.
Maybe I should listen to it more though...LOL.
I like your idea of co-ordinating the sensible and the silly.
It's all about balance...yin/yang.
Nice!
Take care,

Just a humble offering here Bex...

while on Neil's subject of saving...lol...

A big cheery smile costs you nothing but can give a wealth of pleasure to another...

PS I also think IF is a great poem, and Del's suggestions are brill and Sue's are excellent...so many to choose from!

Best advice i've ever been given? The cliche: 'Listen to you heart', can never go wrong if you do that!
